Love, Adventure & Lasting Memories: Abhilash’s Andaman Escape with Thrillophilia

When you are married, people tell you that travelling together is one of the best ways to deepen your bond. Sure, you live together and see each other every day - but there is something about exploring new places that peel back layers you didn't know were there.

I did not quite believe it, but my wife insisted. She has always had an adventurous spirit and this time she had her heart set on the Andaman Islands.

From the very first chat with our travel guide from Thrillophilia, I could tell this would be special. She had a way of talking about Andaman like it was paradise in itself. “Abhilash, trust me,” she said during our last call, “Andaman is not just a place, it is an experience. You will come back with more memories than you expect.”

I laughed, but her enthusiasm was contagious.

Listening to the call beside me, my wife was already excited. She whispered, “If it is half as magical as she says, it will be the best trip yet.”

I gave the team the green signal. “Alright, we are trusting you to make it memorable,” I said, half-jokingly but secretly hoping for an adventure that would stay with us.

And, she was absolutely right.

It was Love at First Sight!

The moment we landed in Port Blair, we took a ferry to Havelock Island. The boat cut smoothly through turquoise waves, and my wife, with her sunhat and sunglasses, looked radiant against the vast sea and sky. She nudged me and whispered, “This is gorgeous.”

I took her hand. “Yes, it surely is. Let us make every second count here.”

When we docked, Havelock welcomed us with open arms and white-sand beaches that seemed to go on forever. We visited a cosy beachside hut, where everything was set up just as we had hoped. The first thing my wife did was run to the shoreline and her feet splashed in the waves.

“Let us race to the shore!” she called, running down the shore.

We spent the entire afternoon exploring and eventually found ourselves at a secluded spot to sit while our feet were buried in the soft warm sand.

“You know,” I said, glancing over at her, “I cannot imagine being anywhere else, with anyone else.”\

She smiled, leaning her head on my shoulder. “That’s the point of this, isn’t it? To remember how lucky we are?”

As the sun dipped into the ocean, we sat quietly and felt the world soften around us. The beauty of Havelock was unreal, and I felt like we were in a story only the two of us could write.

A Wonderful Snorkelling Adventure After Ages

The following day, we went to Elephant Beach, which is famed for its crystal-clear water and colourful marine life. I had heard about the snorkelling activities there, but honestly, I was a bit hesitant. It had been ages since I had done anything like that.

She looked at me as we were getting suited up, noticing my slight unease. “Scared, are we?” she teased.

I laughed it off, trying to sound brave. “Me? Never!”

We floated into the water together, and as soon as I put my face in the water, I was spellbound. Schools of fish darted around us, flashing in a rainbow of colours against the coral. My wife pointed at a particularly vibrant fish, her eyes wide with excitement even behind her goggles.

We surfaced together, laughing and catching our breath. “This is unreal,” I said, “Thank you for making us come here.”

She smiled. “I know you like your routine, but trust me, sometimes the best memories are made when you let go.”

At that moment while floating in the middle of the ocean, I felt a deep connection with my wife. It was a reminder of all the reasons I fell in love with her adventurous spirit.

A Quiet Morning at Kalapathar Beach

On our last morning, we decided to wake up early and visit Kalapathar Beach before the world had fully woken. We had heard the sunrise there was magical, but nothing prepared us for what we saw.

The beach was empty and wrapped in the quiet hush of dawn. Even the sand was soft beneath our feet, and we walked hand in hand along the shore while listening to the waves lap gently at the sand. The sky glowed with hues of soft pinks and oranges and cast a gentle warmth over everything around us.

We sat down to watch the first rays of sun peeking over the horizon.

She turned to me, breaking the silence. “This feels like the beginning of something, doesn’t it?”

I nodded, taking her hand. “Maybe it is the start of us choosing to live a little more, to seek out moments like these.”

“Definitely,”
I replied, meaning every word.

As the sun rose higher, I realised that this beach, this moment, would be etched in my memory forever. It was more than just a beautiful view; it was a reminder to keep making time for each other and to keep adventuring, even in small ways.
