A Family Trip to Remember: Srikant’s Trip to Germany with Thrillophilia

Since I started my job in Mumbai, I've been very busy, and the hustle of city life doesn't leave much time for my family. I grew up in a joint family surrounded by cousins, uncles, and aunts, so I really miss the joy of that experience now that I am living alone. One day while talking to my mother, I asked if we could plan a long family vacation and she was quite excited with the idea. A few weeks passed, and one day, my family group chat started buzzing with excitement. Everyone was eager to plan a big family vacation!

As cousins, we began discussing the trip and discovered that Germany was on everyone's bucket list. I shared a few group tour packages from Thrillophilia, and we ultimately decided to go for a week-long tour, which, of course, included Germany!

Monuments & Moments

The most fascinating time in Europe was exploring the historic monuments and buildings and Frankfurt was definitely the highlight. From the moment we arrived, the city’s rich history and stunning architecture blew us away. We started with a visit to the Great Square, surrounded by beautiful medieval buildings. The atmosphere was electric, and we could feel the history in the air. St. Bartholomew Cathedral was awe-inspiring—its towering spires and intricate details left us speechless.

Vienna was equally captivating, with the Schonbrunn Palace being an absolute marvel. We spent hours wandering through its majestic gardens and opulent rooms. The grandeur of the Hofburg Palace, seen along the Ringstrasse, left us in awe of the city’s imperial past. Every corner seemed to tell a story. We also got a chance to admire the Belvedere, which was as magnificent as it was peaceful.

Budapest was like a historic dream with its beautiful and aesthetic architectural sites. The Queen of Danube Tour was an amazing way to explore the city, with sights like Fisherman’s Bastion and the Old Town offering breathtaking views of the river and city skyline. Prague was equally magical with the Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral standing tall above the city. Walking through the charming streets of the Malastrana Quarter and crossing the iconic Charles Bridge was like stepping into a fairytale.

The guided tours were fun and interactive, making it easy to enjoy every moment as a family. The shared laughter and stories doubled the fun.

City Views, Quaint Villages & Rejuvenating Cruise

What truly mesmerised us all was experiencing the breathtaking city views, charming villages, and rejuvenating cruises that we will never forget. We visited the beautiful Grinzing Village, a peaceful spot famous for its local food and wines. The quaint streets were lined with old houses and vineyards, and we enjoyed tasting delicious traditional dishes paired with unique wines from the region. In Budapest, we embarked on the Danube River Cruise, which offered stunning views of cities along the river. The castles, green hills, and picturesque landscapes were incredibly calming, and we took our time to soak it all in. It was the perfect way for our family to unwind together, enjoying the natural beauty of the area while creating unforgettable memories and clicking endless fun pictures.

In Bratislava, we explored the city at our own pace, wandered through its historic streets and visited iconic spots like Michael's Gate and the City Hall. The blend of old and new architecture gave the city a unique charm that we loved. The most magical cruise was the Vltava River Cruise in Prague, where we were treated to magnificent views of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. The unique experiences we had as a family made for unforgettable moments of joy and good times.

Delicious Treats & Shopping Retreats

Food is our fuel and we did not leave any city without enjoying its local treats. In Vienna, where we indulged in delicious pastries like Sachertorte and Apfelstrudel. We savoured every bite of the rich chocolate cake and the warm, flaky apple strudel—perfect to pair with a cup of coffee as we took in the beautiful city views. Budapest was especially fun as we made a stop at Vaci Street, a bustling shopping hub. We enjoyed strolling through the vibrant street, where we picked up some souvenirs and tried local street foods. The langos, a deep-fried dough topped with cheese and sour cream, was an absolute hit with me and my cousins, while all elders were indulged in sweet treats!

Prague was quite interesting as we strolled in the Old Town Square, where we spent some leisure time exploring the charming area. We wandered around, checking out unique shops and historical attractions like the Powder Tower and Astronomical Clock. It was a lovely blend of shopping and sightseeing, and the whole family had a great time shopping for souvenirs, handicrafts, and designer dresses.

All in all, Frankfurt was the most amazing one as we enjoyed delicious local sausages and pretzels, and we also made a quick stop at the city’s famous shopping street the Zeil. In Rothenburg, we took in the picturesque views and enjoyed a cosy meal at a traditional German restaurant. The trip was filled with tasty treats, shopping adventures, and lots of family bonding moments.

From iconic monument to iconic dad jokes, from beautiful views to beautiful photographs, and from delicious food to fun-filled family time, This trip brought our family closer and left us with stories we will cherish forever.
