Tushar’s Dream Trip Through Kerala’s Tea Gardens, Backwaters, and Beaches

Tushar’s Dream Trip Through Kerala’s Tea Gardens, Backwaters, and Beaches

It was a cosy afternoon when my elder brother and his wife came over to hear all about our recent vacation in Kerala. We had just returned a few days ago, and they were eager to know every little detail. My wife and I sat down with a cup of tea- the same tea we had brought back from Munnar— and every sip reminded us of the beautiful memories we made there.

The conversation started like a flood of memories…

"You won’t believe how beautiful the backwaters were!" I said, smiling at my wife.

"And the tea gardens— just endless hills of green!" She chimed in, her eyes lighting up.

We couldn’t stop talking about the stunning views, the fun moments, and the adventures we had. From the peaceful houseboat ride to the thrill of surfing in Kovalam, it felt like we had lived a dream.

We knew this trip would stay with us forever, and we were so thankful to have experienced it together.

Kochi’s Streets to Munnar’s Peaks!

Our trip started with a bang in Kochi, where the green valleys and mist-covered mountains welcomed us. As we made our way through the city, we visited the famous Valara and Cheeyappara waterfalls.

The sound of water crashing down the rocks echoed through the air, and we couldn’t help but marvel at nature’s raw power. My wife and I stood there silently admiring the breathtaking view of the waterfall, as if words felt too small justify its beauty.

After that, we took a leisurely stroll through the streets of Kochi, sampling some local street food along the way. The spicy vadas, crispy dosas and the freshly fried banana chips were the perfect snack to keep us going. Kochi’s lively atmosphere and vibrant streets were a perfect introduction to Kerala’s charm.

After Kochi, we headed to Munnar, a place that felt like a green paradise. The drive there was scenic, with the roads winding through valleys and hills covered in thick layers of tea plants.

We visited spice plantations, where we saw how cardamom, cinnamon, and pepper were grown. It was fascinating to see the plants up close, and the air smelled so fresh with all the spices around.

We even got to try our hand at making tea at one of the tea gardens. A professional showed us the process, from picking the leaves to brewing the perfect cup. Of course, we couldn’t leave without bringing home some of the tea we made ourselves. It felt like a special souvenir from Munnar. /

But the highlight of the day was the boat ride at Kundale Lake. The lake was serene, with the mountains surrounding it like a protective embrace. We rowed along the calm waters, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and each other’s company.

Gliding Through Alleppey!

Next, we made our way to the backwaters of Alleppey, where the real magic of Kerala began.

We boarded a traditional houseboat, and the experience was unlike anything we had ever done before. The boat was cosy, with a deck where we could sit and watch the world go by.

As we sailed through the backwaters, we passed old traditional villages, coconut groves, and lush greenery. The local villagers waved at us from their homes, and we stopped to chat with a few of them. Talking to these villagers was a humbling experience, seeing how simple and peaceful life was for them.

That evening, we stayed on the houseboat, and the chef prepared a beautiful dinner for us under a moonlit sky. We dined on fresh seafood, Kerala-style, with rice and curry.

The soft breeze, the sound of the water lapping against the boat, and the quiet conversation made it a perfect night. We spent hours talking about life, our future, and the memories we were creating together.

Adventure on the Shore!

The next day, we headed to Kovalam, and if there was one place that truly made us feel alive, it was here. The beaches were stunning, with golden sand and clear blue water. We wasted no time and jumped straight into the action.

First, we tried jet skiing, and let me tell you, it was a blast. My wife screamed with excitement as we zoomed over the waves, and I couldn’t help but laugh at how much fun we were having. After jet skiing, we tried surfing, and let’s just say we weren’t exactly pros. We wiped out a few times, but it didn’t matter because we were having so much fun.

Later, we took a catamaran ride on Hawa Beach, where the strong tides made the ride even more thrilling. It was like riding a roller coaster on the water.

After all the excitement, we went to the iconic German Bakery for some well-deserved treats. The pastries, milkshakes, and pancakes were absolutely delicious. We sat there, overlooking Lighthouse Beach, talking about how incredible the day had been.

A Journey to Remember!

As we sat there reminiscing about our trip, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude. This trip had been everything we could’ve hoped for and more. The beauty of Kerala, the adventures we had, and the time we spent together had made it an unforgettable experience.

When my brother and his wife left that evening, we couldn’t stop thanking them for this amazing wedding gift. "This was the best trip ever," I said, and my wife smiled, agreeing wholeheartedly. We knew that the memories we had made would stay with us forever, and we couldn’t wait to see what other adventures life had in store for us.
